History and Origin
This breed arose in Germany in the begging of the 19th century. The Rottweiler is a descendant of Roman Molossian which became the primogenitors of many other dog breeds. The breed was named in the honor of the town of Rottweil. This town was the center of cattle commerce and rottweilers were the dogs of cattlemen. They were used for herding, tracking, hunting for wild boar, as a watchdog and a companion dog.
Appearance
The Rottweiler is a powerful muscular dog of gross stature with noble and self-assured expression The height is 22-27 inches. The weight is 85-130 pounds. Dogs are more massive than bitches. The coat is dense, of medium length. The colour is black with white marking.
Personality
The Rottweiler is a calm and self-assured dog. It is courageous enduring breed. It is a intelligent, people-oriented breed. Rottweilers have inherited protective ability. This breed do need considerable training and socialization because these dogs are stubborn, strong-willing and tent to dominate. Without proper training this dogs can be dangerous. A Rottweiler owner should be a rather robust, because to handle this massive dogs is not easy task. The Rottweiler is one of the breeds used as police animals.
